Practical Lessons I Carry Forward
Reflecting on my work and research, five convictions now anchor my leadership:
1. Team Ministry Is Biblical
God intended for His people to grow and serve in community. The church is a diverse body, gifted by the Spirit for mutual edification.
2. I Must Shape Team Culture Intentionally
Values donβt appear by accident; they are formed through vision, modeling, and accountability. As a leader, I am responsible for cultivating the spiritual and relational tone of the team.
3. I Prefer Transformational Leadership
This approach aligns best with my belief that leaders should:
- inspire followers
- develop people
- adapt to change
- model Christlike character
- empower others to exceed their own expectations
Transformational leadership mirrors the ministry of Jesus and the ethos of the early church.
4. Spirit-Dependence Is Essential
Studying Paul reinforced a truth I already lived:
Leadership divorced from the Spiritβs empowerment becomes mechanical and self-reliant.
I depend daily on God to guide decisions, direct strategy, and unify the team.
5. Every Team Needs a Development Plan
People do not grow accidentally. Leaders must cultivate gifts, provide opportunities, and encourage continual learning. Healthy teams are developing teams.
