🕊️ THE WAY |CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP: LEADING BY THE WORD

Ecclesial leaders must measure success not by visibility but by faithfulness to the servant-King.

    Abstract

This study contends that the recovery of biblically grounded leadership is essential to the renewal of the contemporary church. Drawing from Scripture and theological reflection, it argues that the authority of God’s Word, the example of Christ, and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit form the normative framework for Christian leadership. Hall (2024) emphasizes that Scripture not only informs but defines the task of leadership; it calls leaders to serve, to live with integrity, and to depend on the Spirit rather than personal charisma or institutional power.

    The Crisis of Ecclesial Leadership

Modern ecclesial structures display unprecedented access to information and strategy, yet the Church often suffers from a crisis of integrity and mission drift. The fragmentation of moral authority has led many leaders to substitute managerial competence for spiritual conviction. Historically, Israel’s kings and priests faced similar failures whenever they distanced themselves from divine instruction. Leadership divorced from revelation inevitably produces confusion. The recovery of biblical authority, therefore, is not optional—it is a theological necessity for restoring direction and trust within the people of God.
