IV. Theological Reflection
Paul’s instruction to Titus and Timothy emphasizes that the health of the church depends on the holiness of its leaders. These qualifications transform leadership from a position of power to a ministry of integrity. The same Spirit that called leaders in Crete and Ephesus calls the modern church to pursue leadership marked by humility, faithfulness, and spiritual maturity.
“Doctrine divorced from character breeds hypocrisy; character without doctrine breeds confusion.”
V. Reflection Questions
- How does Paul’s standard of “blamelessness” challenge modern leadership culture?
- What can we learn from the connection between family life and ministry readiness?
- How does the moral context of Crete and Ephesus mirror our world today?
- What steps can leaders take to ensure both character and doctrine remain healthy?
