Jesus: The King Who Prayed
If Jesus was God, why did He pray?
Because He modeled dependence.
He prayed before choosing the disciples, before performing miracles, before the cross. In Gethsemane, we see His humanity trembling:
“Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.” (Luke 22:42)
Prayer wasn’t weakness—it was warfare. Jesus stayed connected to His Father’s will through conversation, surrender, and love.
He taught His followers, “When you pray, say: ‘Our Father… Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.’” (Luke 11:2)
Even the Son of God refused to rule without Heaven’s permission.
The Early Church: Power Through Prayer
After Jesus ascended, the apostles carried on His rhythm. “They devoted themselves to prayer.” (Acts 2:42)
When Peter was imprisoned, the Church didn’t protest—they prayed (Acts 12:5). Chains broke, guards froze, and Peter walked free. Prayer wasn’t their backup—it was their battle plan.
