The Nature of the Fall: From Glory to Opposition
Lucifer’s rebellion led to a heavenly schism. Revelation 12 portrays a cosmic war: “And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon… and the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan.” — Revelation 12:7, 9 (NASB)
Satan’s fall was final in its moral direction, but his influence continued. He became the deceiver, the slanderer, and the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4). He cannot dethrone God, so he deflects worship — redirecting human allegiance toward anything other than the Creator.
