THE DOCTRINE OF THE PERSON OF CHRIST

Jesus didn’t become God; He was God from the beginning.

A Doctrine & Theology Reflection | The Way Bible Series

    The Wonder of the Incarnation

The centerpiece of Christian theology is not merely the existence of God, but His revelation in the Person of Jesus Christ.
In Christ, the eternal Word became flesh — deity clothed in humanity.

“And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
    — John 1:14 (NASB)

This doctrine asserts that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, two complete natures united in one Person, without confusion, division, or contradiction.

    Millard Erickson captures it well:

“In Christ, God became what He had never been before without ceasing to be what He always was.” (Christian Theology, p. 703)

    📘 WORD BOX: HYPOSTATIC UNION

Meaning: The union of two distinct natures — divine and human — in the one Person of Jesus Christ.
Greek: Hypostasis = “substance” or “reality.”
Key Texts: John 1:1–14; Philippians 2:5–11; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 2:17.
