The Impossible Foundation
The call includes promise:
“I will make of you a great nation.” (Gen. 12:2)
But there is a problem.
Genesis 11:30 tells us:
“Now Sarai was barren; she had no child.”
The entire promise hinges on impossibility.
A barren woman.
An aging man.
No land.
No inheritance.
No army.
No infrastructure.
And yet God speaks of a nation.
This reveals something foundational for Christian leadership:
The called do not generate the plan.
They enter the plan.
Neither Terah nor Abram engineered this vision.
Neither possessed the capacity to fulfill it.
God’s intention preceded their participation.
Leadership is not human construction.
It is divine inclusion.
