The Trial Before Power
But the religious leaders lack one thing:
Authority to execute.
So Jesus is taken to Rome.
To Pilate.
“Are You the King of the Jews?” (Matthew 27:11)
The question shifts—from theology to politics.
Pilate examines Him. Questions Him. Listens.
And finds nothing.
“I find no fault in Him at all” (John 18:38).
This is the tension of Rome:
They do not see guilt.
But they fear unrest.
The Crowd Returns
The same city that welcomed Jesus now gathers again.
But the tone has changed.
The leaders stir the people. Influence shifts. Pressure builds.
Pilate offers a choice:
Barabbas… or Jesus.
A rebel… or the righteous.
And the crowd answers:
“Crucify Him!” (Matthew 27:22)
The voices that once cried “Hosanna”…
now cry for death.
