The Sentence
Pilate, though unconvinced, gives in.
“Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified” (Matthew 27:26).
An innocent man condemned.
A guilty man released.
Substitution has already begun.
The Path to the Cross
They mock Him.
They crown Him with thorns.
They clothe Him in scarlet.
They strike Him and kneel in false worship:
“Hail, King of the Jews!” (Matthew 27:29)
But they do not realize:
He is King.
Not in spite of this moment…
but through it.
