A House Meant for All Nations
Mark adds a crucial detail:
“Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations’?” (Mark 11:17)
The temple was not just for Israel—it was meant to draw the nations.
But the very space designated for Gentiles—the outer court—has been overtaken by commerce.
In other words:
Those seeking God…
have no room to seek Him.
And Jesus clears the space.
Not just to remove corruption—
but to restore access.
The Rising Tension
The response is immediate.
“And the scribes and chief priests heard it and sought how they might destroy Him; for they feared Him” (Mark 11:18).
Sunday stirred hope.
Monday provokes hostility.
Because Jesus is no longer just receiving praise—
He is confronting power.
And those who benefit from the system…
recognize the threat.
