Theme: Nehemiah — Building Under Pressure
Scripture: Nehemiah 6:3
“So I sent messengers to them, saying, ‘I am doing a great work and I cannot come down.’”
Nehemiah was not a priest or prophet — he was a builder with a vision. When he heard that Jerusalem’s walls were in ruins, he didn’t complain; he prayed, planned, and acted. But as progress began, so did the opposition. Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem mocked, threatened, and tried to lure him away from his work.
Nehemiah’s response remains one of the most powerful leadership lines ever spoken:
“I am doing a great work and I cannot come down.”
True leaders know that distractions are as dangerous as defeat. Nehemiah teaches us that faith-fueled focus is leadership’s greatest tool. When God gives you a task, no criticism, fatigue, or fear should pull you away. Like Nehemiah, pray hard, plan well, and keep building until the vision stands firm.
Reflection Questions
- What “great work” has God entrusted you with today?
- Who or what tempts you to “come down” from your mission?
- How can prayer strengthen your focus this week?
