A Personal Philosophy of Leadership by Dr. Kevin A. Hall

Introduction: Why Leadership Must Be Formed by Christ

Every leader is shaped by something — ambition, culture, pressure, personality, or pain. But Christian leadership is shaped by a Person. At its core, leadership for the Christian is the Spirit-empowered work of helping people become more like Christ (Col. 3:10). This transformation is not simply a moral upgrade; it is the renewal of the image of God in people — God’s ancient mission from Genesis to Revelation.

In my leadership philosophy, drawn from Scripture, theology, and decades of ministry experience, leadership is not primarily about authority but about alignment — aligning people, systems, and culture with the redemptive heart of God. Leadership is influence, but Christian leadership is holy influence — influence that participates in God’s mission of reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18–20).

From this foundation, my model integrates the best of transformational leadership, servant leadership, and biblical leadership history. The goal: to help leaders—pastors, educators, marketplace influencers, parents—lead in a way that reflects Jesus and renews His image in others.
