Angels in Action: A Biblical Glimpse
Examples of angels serving God’s purpose include Hagar (Gen 16), Jacob’s ladder (Gen 28), Elijah’s sustenance (1 Kings 19), Daniel’s rescue (Dan 6), Peter’s release (Acts 12), and Jesus’ strengthening in Gethsemane (Luke 22:43).
Theological Reflection
Unlike fallen angels, holy angels glorify God by assisting His creation and testifying to divine order. Erickson observes: ‘Angels testify to the moral universe where power bows to righteousness.’ (Christian Theology, 2013).
Psalm 103:20 – ‘Bless the Lord, all you His angels, mighty in strength, who perform His word, obeying the voice of His word!’
Reflection Questions
1. What do angels teach us about God’s authority and holiness?
2. How should believers view angelic protection in daily life?
3. What lessons arise from angelic obedience versus Lucifer’s rebellion?
4. How can studying angels deepen our worship of the Creator?
