The Purpose and Roles of Angels

Angels serve as God’s agents in worship, communication, protection, and judgment.

    A. Worship and Service – Revelation 7:11 portrays angels around the throne, bowing in adoration.

    B. Messengers – Angels brought messages to Abraham (Gen 18), Mary (Luke 1:26–38), and Joseph (Matt 1:20–21).

    C. Guardians and Protectors – ‘He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways’ (Psalm 91:11).

    D. Executors of Judgment – The angel of the Lord executed judgment in Egypt (Exodus 12:23) and struck Herod (Acts 12:23).

    Angels in Spiritual Warfare

Angels are participants in divine warfare. Daniel 10 reveals conflict with the ‘prince of Persia,’ showing territorial resistance. Michael the archangel serves as defender and warrior (Revelation 12:7).

📘 WORD BOX: MICHAEL AND GABRIEL

Michael – ‘Who is like God?’ Defender of God’s people (Daniel 10:13; Revelation 12:7).
Gabriel – ‘God is my strength.’ Messenger of revelation (Daniel 8:16; Luke 1:19, 26).
