    A THEOLOGY OF PERSONAL COMMUNION

Because Jesus Christ is the final High Priest and all believers are part of a royal priesthood, Christians have direct access to God and may participate in Communion as an act of remembrance, faith, and obedience.

CHRIST AS THE FINAL HIGH PRIEST

The priesthood of believers is only possible because of Jesus.

“We have a great high priest… Jesus the Son of God.” — Hebrews 4:14

Jesus fulfills and replaces the Old Testament priesthood:

    • He offers the final sacrifice (Hebrews 10:10)
    • He intercedes for believers (Hebrews 7:25)
    • He opens permanent access to God

    Therefore:

No human priest is required to “make” communion valid
Christ Himself is the mediator (1 Timothy 2:5)

    THE NATURE OF COMMUNION

When we come to Communion (The Lord’s Supper), Scripture emphasizes remembrance, participation, and proclamation, not priestly control.

“Do this in remembrance of me.” — Luke 22:19
“For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup…” — 1 Corinthians 11:26

    Notice:

    • Jesus commands disciples, not a special class of clergy
    • Paul addresses the whole church, not just leaders

    Communion is:

    • A memorial (remembering Christ)
    • A participation (sharing in His body and blood – 1 Cor. 10:16)
    • A proclamation (declaring His death)
