Eyes That Were Kept… Then Opened
Later that day, two disciples walk away from Jerusalem.
Away from confusion.
Away from disappointment.
Away from what they cannot understand.
“We were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel…” (Luke 24:21)
Hope—past tense.
Jesus joins them.
Walks with them.
Speaks with them.
But they do not recognize Him.
Because sometimes grief blinds what truth has already fulfilled.
He opens the Scriptures:
“Beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself” (Luke 24:27).
Still… they do not see.
Until the table.
Until the bread.
“Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him” (Luke 24:31).
And He vanishes.
But something remains:
“Did not our heart burn within us…?” (Luke 24:32)
Resurrection is not just seen.
It is felt.
