God Teaches Stewardship Before Influence
Genesis 39–41
Long before Joseph governed Egypt, he learned how to steward smaller responsibilities faithfully. Potiphar entrusted him with his entire household. Later, the prison warden entrusted him with the care of the other prisoners. Joseph exercised genuine authority in both places without ever possessing the highest position.
He learned that leadership was stewardship rather than privilege.
Only after years of faithful service did Pharaoh summon Joseph to interpret troubling dreams concerning seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine. Joseph not only interpreted the dreams but proposed a wise plan to preserve food throughout Egypt.
Pharaoh recognized that God’s wisdom rested upon him.
Joseph was elevated to become second only to Pharaoh.
